Our celebration on August 29 leads into International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, a day that honors the lives we've lost, stands with grieving families, and reminds us that overdose is preventable. When we show up together, we help our community learn about addiction, share life-saving resources, and prove that recovery is possible.
Each year on August 31, International Overdose Awareness Day unites communities worldwide to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and honor those lost to overdose.
Our ceremony and paddle out are part of this global movement's local tribute. Everyone is welcome. Paddlers head beyond the break to form a floating circle and hold a moment of silence. If you'd rather stay on shore, please come anyway; the circle includes the beach.
Bring a name to remember. Bring someone who needs company that day.
